§ Legal
Privacy Policy
Last updated · 10 August 2026
The short version: Lattice is local-first. Your conversations are stored on your own device, inside your browser — no Lattice server ever receives them, and there are no accounts. We never see the content of what you type, read, or ask. The only things that ever leave your device are: your email, if you choose to give it for product updates; and a small number of anonymous, content-free usage counts you can turn off (see §03). We never sell your data.
01 What Lattice is
Lattice is a Chrome extension that maps your ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini conversations into a navigable library — a map, search, and "ask your own history" layer that runs on your machine. This policy explains exactly what it does and does not do with your information.
02 What Lattice stores, and where
As you chat, Lattice reads the conversation on the page you're viewing and saves a structured
copy locally, in your browser's own storage (the standard chrome.storage.local
and IndexedDB used by extensions). This includes prompts, responses, edits, conversation titles,
and timestamps, plus your Lattice settings.
- This data is written to your device and stays there. No Lattice server receives it.
- We can't read it, back it up, or recover it — only you have it.
03 Email, and what we don't collect
When you first open Lattice, we show a one-time, optional prompt asking for your email so we can send you occasional product updates. It is entirely skippable — you can dismiss it and use every feature of Lattice without giving it to us. If you do enter it, your email is saved on your device and sent to a Google Sheet we use as a simple mailing list; that is the only personal detail Lattice ever transmits to us. We use it solely to email you updates, we never sell or share it, and you can unsubscribe or ask us to delete it at any time at latticecreator225@gmail.com. If you skip the prompt, we collect nothing about you.
Beyond that optional email, here's exactly what we do and don't collect:
- No account. You never sign up, and no password is required to use the extension.
- No conversation content, ever. Your prompts, responses, searches, and history stay on your device. We never receive the text of anything you type, read, or ask — there's nothing there for us to sell.
- Anonymous, aggregate product analytics. To understand whether Lattice actually works for people, we collect a small number of anonymous usage events — for example, that the extension was installed, that a conversation was mapped, or that the Ask feature was used. Each is tagged with a random ID that isn't linked to you, your name, or your email. We never attach conversation content, titles, URLs, or search terms to these events. It tells us that a feature was used, never what you used it on.
- You can turn it off. Analytics is opt-out — disable it in Lattice's settings and no events are sent at all.
04 "Ask Lattice" and your own AI key
Ask lets you question your history in plain language. It needs an AI model to do that, and it uses one on your terms:
- You bring your own API key for the provider you choose — Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, Google (Gemini), or Groq.
- Your key is stored locally in your browser and is sent only to that provider, only when you run a query.
- When you ask a question, the relevant excerpts from your captured conversations are sent to your chosen provider to generate the answer — exactly as if you had pasted them in yourself. That request is governed by your provider's privacy policy, not ours.
- If you never use Ask, no conversation content is ever transmitted anywhere.
05 Payments
Lattice is currently free to use in full, and the extension contains no payment, subscription, or licence-checking code of any kind — it never contacts a payments provider. If and when you buy a paid plan, that purchase happens on Gumroad's own website, where Gumroad processes your payment and billing details under its privacy policy. We receive only the order confirmation Gumroad shows us, and never see your full card details.
06 Browser permissions, and why
Lattice requests only what it needs to do its job:
- Access to chatgpt.com, claude.ai, and gemini.google.com — to read the conversation on the page you're viewing so it can be mapped.
- Side panel, tabs, active tab — to show Lattice beside your chat and know which conversation is open.
- Storage — to save your map locally on your device.
- Alarms & notifications — for background syncing and the occasional reminder.
- Your chosen AI provider's API — contacted only when you run an Ask query, using your own key.
- script.google.com — the single endpoint that receives your optional email and the anonymous usage counts described in §03. Nothing else is ever sent there.
Lattice does not request access to any other site, and the extension bundles its own fonts and code — it loads nothing from a third-party server while you use it.
07 Deleting your data
- You can delete any single conversation, or wipe everything, from inside Lattice at any time.
- Uninstalling the extension removes its locally stored data from your browser.
- When you uninstall, Chrome may open a short, optional feedback page asking why you left. Answering is entirely voluntary, and we only receive what you choose to type into it.
- Because your data lives on your device, you are always in control of it.
08 This website
uselattice.online is a static marketing site. It sets no tracking cookies and runs no third-party analytics. It does load its webfonts from Google Fonts, which means Google sees the request for those font files; the Lattice extension itself does not, as it ships its own copies. Standard, privacy-preserving server logs may be kept by our host for security and reliability.
09 Children
Lattice isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them — or, frankly, from anyone.
10 Changes to this policy
If we change how Lattice handles data, we'll update this page and the date above. Material changes will also be reflected in the Chrome Web Store listing.
